Why Water Safety Matters
Australia recorded 357 water-related fatalities last year, a 27% increase on the ten-year average. Helping children understand how to stay safe in and around water is one of the most important steps we can take to prevent these tragedies, and this program is an excellent place to start.
What the Program Includes
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a swimming lesson. The program focuses on child water safety education, awareness, and practical preparedness.
Children will enjoy one hour of interactive learning followed by one hour of pool-based practice with qualified LSV instructors. They’ll learn how to:
- Identify common water hazards
- Understand key pool and beach safety signs
- Correctly use life jackets
- Practise safe rescue techniques (Talk, Reach, Throw)
- Learn simple survival positions
- Build basic emergency response awareness, including DRSABCD - Danger (check scene safety), Response (check consciousness), Send for help (call 000), Airway (clear), Breathing (look, listen, feel), CPR (30:2 ratio), and Defibrillation (AED use)
We are proud to offer this valuable program to support families and help keep our community safe around water. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to grow their confidence, strengthen their awareness, and develop essential safety habits before the busy summer season.
It’s engaging, empowering, and could help save a life - book now through the Alamanda Community App to secure a spot early!
